I loved using the bard/vampires and how creative the classes in general were. The setting is also quite memorable for me, starting in the elf forest and looking up at the sky with the fantasy music in the background was awesome. Just the sheet amount of skill options and builds made me sit there for hours just putting points into the tree and testing. Talent trees these days are so linear and boring, they don't offer things like crits to abilities or actual change in how the ability works, everything just feels dumb down. To this day, I've yet to see a game that has the same enjoyable talent tree as forsaken world, it gave so much diversity and the ability to put in how many points you want and to unlock that addition effect if you do choose to max it was just satisfying. I still think about that game every now and again, what I loved about it most was the talent tree and skills. I played it when it used to be on steam and still has my play time on it at around 2000 hours. The game got worse and worse over time after release and this sub would have absolutely hated it, but I miss it. I feel like in a lot of ways I have an unresolved past with the game. But I can't even really go back and talk to anyone about it, I have a few friends who used to play that I'm still friends with on discord but they didn't play the same class as me and never put as much thought into it. Theory crafting and building your character for pvp in that game was SO fun. But I had a thought today about how there was a debate on whether it was worth gemming for crit damage or attack for pvp, and I wish I could just go back and play and try to figure it out and theory craft. At that point there was still barely enough people for guild vs guild but you could still play the game and have fun with it, raid, have cross server guild wars etc.Īs of right now, the game is completely dead and nothing I did on it really means anything. Anyways I played it up till like 2018/2019 or so which is pretty much the end point when the game was still functionally playable. I remember people quitting for new mmo's like when archeage came out there was a mass exodus for that and we went through the "game was dying" phase so many times. I played it on and off through the years religiously, even when people were saying it was dying all the time. The biggest problem was it was extremely pay to win, which wasn't a huge problem at the beginning but became a huge problem years after release.Īnyways this was my wow replacement after cataclysm. Pvp and rivalries happened all the time, you could build any type of character you wanted, pvp was actually fun and skill based, classes were good, it had arena, etc. Everyone on the server knew each other, the game was absolutely packed with people, you had tons of personalities that were famous because they had super op characters, and you could basically do whatever you want and had no linear paths. Anyways I started playing this game probably a year after its release and it was SO immersive and addictive at least for the type of personality I had. but it got hyped up because it was made by Perfect World and planned to blend western mmo's with eastern mmos. This game came out in 2011 during the mmo peak when we had new games literally every week.
